Purposeful play is effective as a learning approach because it allows for a child centered approach to learning. Instead of being prescriptive, children are encouraged to actively engage in the learning process and explore concepts on their own. They are therefore more likely to be motivated and invested in what they are learning. Purposeful play supports multiple areas of development simultaneously. This includes, but is not limited to,

Purposeful play requires children to solve problems and think critically in order to achieve their goals. Whether it's building with blocks or creating a pretend play scenario, children must use critical thinking skills to achieve their goals.
